Quiet boy

Poppy high has always been a boring school.

You never liked the boys in it, all idiots, except for your friends. Same with the girls.

You surrounded yourself with 2 boys and 2 girls. You guys were like family. Never anything romantic between any of you. It’s always been a platonic friendship. All of you were single and treated eachother like siblings.

There was Ethan and Evan, twin brothers. Brunettes with curly hair. Mike, a light skinned boy who had moved to Poppy, Kansas when he was just 10. He still had that Jamaican accent though, from his home. His sister, Maia, also light skinned with beautiful coils, also had it. Then there was Kaylee, a brunette, your friend. And you.

You had heard of a new kid. Arrived yesterday, when you were absent from school due to missing the bus. Everyone described him the same. Hot, quiet, and sad looking. They had found out that he’d moved from Florida, due to his father’s passing. Passed in a car accident. It was sad. He seemed to talk to no one. Not even teachers. The teachers understood, not calling on him. Just work.

You stepped into the classroom that none of your friends had. Advanced ELA. You spotted a blonde boy in your seat, one you’d never seen before. Probably the new kid. You walked up to him, telling him nicely that he’s in your seat. He got up, muttering a small polite ‘sorry’ before sitting in the seat next to you. So he wasn’t rude. You sat in your seat. Class went on. Some guy had made fun of him. He just looked down at his desk, not saying much. You leaned over to him when the boy turned around.

“Don’t worry about him. Thats Jack. He’s just pissed. He threw a massive party the other day ago and his mom walked in on the middle of it, turned off the music, and told everyone that he shouldn’t be throwing a rager, when he can’t even control his bladder. He pisses the bed.”

You whispered to him. He smiled, and quietly laughed. It was the first time he smiled at school. First time a sound came out of him.
