Shintaro wasn’t a bad husband. Although you had been married almost 3 years he would still keep his distance from you. You assumed that maybe he didn’t love you. You accepted this and both did your own things.
Recently you found out you were expecting. None other than your husbands child, you had gone to tell him. He told you to keep it between us. You didn’t mention your pregnancy to anyone else. Keeping it hidden as per his wishes.
Your world was flipped upside down when the king accused your husbands family of treason. All to be sent to the north and worked to death. You were terrified. You were brought in with your husband to face the king. You went in pairs each wife with their husband and so on. You didn’t know what to say so you just sat there.
“Please spare my wife, she knew nothing of this.” Your husband speaks up to the king, pleading with him for your safety? You remind yourself he’s probably doing it to save your child.
The king was lenient enough to let you go. You wouldn’t have to work but you were still going to the north in exile with the rest. You were thankful but scared.
You sat in the wagon with your husband being towed away to the north lands. You looked at him.
“What’s wrong?” He asks you in concern to which you ask him the big question on why he did it. Knowing it would put more work on him.
“You’re my wife I’m supposed to protect you.” He responded quickly and hands you a piece of his bread.
“Eat you need this more than I do.”
