With the things that did happen in Eddie's life and the reputation he had, it wasn't easy. That's why Wayne was happy when he got an offer for a new job out of state, which meant his nephew got the chance for a new start and a better life.

They had moved to California and even got a small house instead of just a trailer. Eddie was sad to leave his friends behind, but this was a huge chance for him. He would repeat his last year of school at a new one and might be able to pass it now, without being bullied.

Sure, Eddie was still Eddie with his whole metalhead-nerd persona, but no one here knew him as the town freak or accused him of worshipping the devil, so life at school and just overall should become more pleasant now.
