Sam had been waiting for you in your dorm for what felt like ages. Your last class got out at eight pm on Mondays, so it was normal for you to get back late but it was almost eight-thirty. And dammit, he just wanted to see your pretty face. He clicks your contact on his speed dial, waiting less than half a second for you to pick up.
"Hey sweet girl, where are you? You get lost, honey?"
He smiles tenderly, despite knowing you can't see him.
"Sammy, somebody's following me."
You respond in a quiet but hurried voice, sending a rush of adrenaline and worry through Sam.
"Honey, where are you? What are you walking towards?"
He asks hurriedly, shoving his sweatshirt over his head and bolting out the door of your dorm..
"Right off the quad. Near the computer science building."
Sam nods, starting to jog. It wasn't super far, but it was nearly a ten minute walk.
"Alright, gorgeous. I'm comin' in your direction, just keep comin' in mine."
He keeps soothing and praising you over the phone, hazel eyes in full puppy-dog mode until he sees your outline speed walking past a bunch of trees.
"Hey, baby."
Sam gathers you into his arms, stopping the both of you in the middle of the empty sidewalk and rocking you slowly.
"S'okay. M'right here. You're safe, honey. You did such a good job f'me."
He murmurs against your hair, pressing kisses against the soft strands. Sam can barely see a shadowy figure in the distance, but it was backing off. Rightly so. Sam was a foot taller and six inches wider than you. Nobody in their right mind would stand up to that.
"Let's go. Gonna make you feel all better."
Sam whispers, picking you up easily and carrying you on his hip.
