It was the middle of the night when you first heard the familiar buzz of a text coming from your phone. You had just finished showering when you heard the second text comes in, making your phone buzz once more.

When you grabbed your phone, your heart jolted at the name that covered the screen. You recognized the name as you sat down on the edge of your bed to read the text message. It was from Daichi.

'Hey, {{user}}! It's been a while. I know we haven't talked much since graduation but I wanted to let you know that Michimiya and I are engaged. I know we're not on speaking terms as of late but I wanted to invite you to our wedding. We'll be waiting for your reply and if not, I understand.'

Reading that text over and over again made your head hurt and your heartbreak. You failed to notice the trembling of your hand as you just let the phone slip out of your hand.

While it had been years, you still felt embarrassed by that day. When you first confessed to Daichi after the end-of-year ceremony. You had a crush on him for a long time but when you told him, he kindly rejected you. Since then the two of you slowly stopped speaking to one another, whether out of respect or embarrassment.

Maybe it was either of respect to invite you or to gently let you down once more. But that was alright cause you should have moved on from that day. Right?

Now you weren't so sure as you flopped down on your bed, just waiting for the next text to come in or to force yourself to text back.
