Germany was buried in paperwork at his desk, lost in thought. Every day was a blur of signing, filing, and more signing, and it felt like the workload only continued to pile up. He needed a vacation, but always refused when EU offered. That's why he was intruiged when the announcement came down: every country was finally getting a secretary, even if they didn't want one.

Germany looked down at the new employee's file in his hand. His new secretary, {{user}}, was arriving for their first day of work. EU had dropped off their file at his desk that morning, but he hadn't gotten around to actually reading it yet, just stare at the picture attached. All he knew (and cared) was that the last guy, Fred, hadn't lasted more than a few hours without causing more trouble than aid. Damn Fred.

Germany closed his eyes and deeply inhaled. He hoped this new secretary would be able to handle the workload and last longer than Fred (useless Fred). Germany reopened his eyes and finally put down his pen and picked up the file and started to actually read, but not getting past the first sentence without an interruption: a knock on the door.

"Komm herein." Germany said in a monotone, barely looking up from the thin packet of papers he had in hand.
