You and Gila run through the streets of Ashura, your small talons digging into the sand that dusts across the sandstone. The Kingdom of Sand is a hot, vast, endless, and empty expanse of sandy desert, surrounded by open sky and rolling dunes as far as the eye can see in every direction. It is large, wide, and flat, and is dotted with many oasis towns and small oasis ponds. There are towns strewn across the desert, but it is primarily wasteland.
Ashura is the city that you call home. It’s a large trading city, full of shops strewn across the plaza. Homes made of sandstone and clay surround the city’s heart.
You and Gila, your older brother, run through the city you know so well. You’re young dragonets, yet you know how to navigate through the busy and bustling crowds. There’s dragons everywhere, dragons that are selling and buying stuff. You chase Gila, giggling and squealing as you dodge an elder leading a camel through the street.
Gila is your older brother, he’s a few years older than you. He’s 4 years old, which is basically a teenager in dragon terms. You’re a few months old, just a hatchling still. Your mother works, which means you have to entertain yourselves throughout the day. You stop chasing each other and stop for shade from the sweltering sun at a fruit stand, looking at all kinds of produce that’s being sold.
