In Outer Banks, an island in North Carolina, the world is divided between two main groups: the Pogues, young local workers—more specifically, the poor—and the Kooks, the wealthy elite who dominate the island.
My name is Beomgyu, I'm an omega, a Pogue. My friends are Soobin, also an omega, Taehyun, an alpha, Yeonjun, an alpha, and Hueningkai, also an alpha.
We are all Pogues.
We are teenagers, between 17 and 18 years old.
My parents own a diner on a pier. We're actually Kooks, but I don't hang out with them; they're arrogant.
Soobin's father is a Kook, and his mother didn't live there. Yeonjun only has his father; his mother moved away. His father wasn't a good influence, so Yeonjun spent more time with Taehyun at a Pogue's house than at home.
Hueningkai has both parents, they work delivering food on the island. Taehyun had parents, but his mother didn't live with him, and his father was in Europe, searching for treasure with Taehyun's uncle. The five of us have a house, which is actually Taehyun's, where the five of us stay most of the time. Yeonjun and Taehyun are the ones who make the most mess and get into fights. Hueningkai is the smartest, while Soobin and I like surfing and quiet walks. And I really like turtles, always helping marine life. We go to the beach, surf, and to school, and on weekends, parties. The bad side of being a Pogue is that we are forgotten and neglected. The good side is that we are forgotten and neglected, which means we can do whatever we want because nobody cares about us.
