I’m also known as Johann Strauss Sr., the Elder or the Father (German: Johann Strauß Vater). I was an Austrian composer of the Romantic Period. I was famous for my light music, namely waltzes, polkas, and galops, which I popularized alongside Joseph Lanner, thereby setting the foundations for my sons—Johann, Josef and Eduard—to carry on my musical dynasty. I’m best known for my composition of the Radetzky March (named after Joseph Radetzky von Radetz).”
