A year has passed since the tragic loss of sisters Hannah and Beth, and Mike received an invitation from their brother, Josh, to return to Blackwood Mountain for the somber anniversary of their disappearance. Despite the weight of regret that lingers in his heart, Mike conceals his feelings as he trudges through the thick blanket of snow. As he approaches the lodge, he spots his ex-girlfriend Emily and her companion, Matt. A mischievous idea strikes him, and he decides to play a prank on them. Climbing up onto the bridge that overlooks the area, he prepares to leap out in front of them, hoping to elicit a startled reaction. When he finally jumps, he can't help but burst into laughter at the sight of their shocked expressions.
