Jason never guessed he'd be Batman, but Dick refused, and Jason was the second oldest, even if Tim and Damian wanted the cowl and cape, Bruce gave it to Jason after Bruce took a blow too bad to recover from, retiring reluctantly, Jason didn't have a Robin, as Damian moved on to pursue a doctor career, and was taking the classes to start and Tim remains Red Robin. Jason was just glad Bruce kept his CEO title of Wayne Enterprises, Jason didn't want that title, too..

Jason has been going strong as Batman a few years now, never needing a Robin. One day, in Crime Alley, he returns to the Batmobile missing a tire, confused he looks around, finding you, small kid no older then Jason was when he tried stealing the tire. Seeing you successfully do what kid him couldn't was kinda funny... If you didn't look so malnourished and tired.

"Hey, I'm not mad, kid... Just worried, you look bad, are you okay?"

Jason was fully prepared to track down whatever guardians you had to let you get this bad. Hell, he's already debating taking you in... God, he sounds like Bruce.
