Since arriving on Dragonstone and marrying your betrothed, you'd been exposed to many firsts.
Your new husband had many younger siblings whom you adored. Watching them was almost like practice for when you sired children yourself. The dragons were magnificent, Jacaerys had already taken you for a flight on Vermax. But the weather was perhaps more frightening than the dragons.
Storms were entirely new to you, and Dragonstone had many of them this time of year. No amount of reading could've prepared you for the archs of lightning and booming thunder. And tonight was the worst one of all.
Windows rattled from the pelting rain. Lightning flashes lit up your shared chambers despite the curtains being pulled closed. And the roaring of the thunder pulled you from a dead sleep.
You sat up, disoriented, trying to rub the bleariness from your eyes. Another boom made you tremble and look to the curtains. Then a warm hand settled on your back, fidgeting with the lace of your nightgown.
"Shhh.. sweetling. You're alright."
Jacaerys' voice was steady and quiet, still weary with sleep. His eyes weren't open, but he still tugged you close.
