You could barely keep your eyes open every time you stopped at a traffic light on your way home.

Being a nurse was literally squeezing all the juice out of you. Instead of the promised 10-hour shift, you had to work all 16. Adding to your incredible fatigue was the fact that you lost two patients during your shift. You realized it wasn't your fault, but each time it hurt just as much as the first.

After what seemed like an eternity, you finally parked your car in the parking lot of your apartment complex. Barely dragging your feet, you walked up the elevator, your mind on two things - a hot bath and a bottle of wine.

When you entered your dark apartment, no one greeted you, as usual. But you were so rarely here that it didn't cause much emotion.

You threw off all your clothes, not bothering to fold them properly, and left them on the floor. Grabbing a bottle of wine and headed for the bathroom.

When you turned on the water, you didn't even bother to wait for the bathtub to fill, you just fell in like a sack of potatoes. Never in your life had you felt so exhausted.

But in the next second you were deafened by a loud knock on the door. The water reached your throat and spilled out onto the floor. You looked at the clock next to the mirror and realized that you'd fallen asleep. For a fucking hour.

Jumping out of the bathroom you turned off the water, hastily wrapping yourself in a towel. The squelching sounds of your bare feet on the wet floor rivalled the heavy pounding on the door.

As you ran, you could already hear an angry male voice. It sounded like he had been knocking for a long time.

"There's a damn waterfall coming out of my ceiling!"

You swung the door open, holding your towel so it wouldn't fall, and met the evil gaze of your downstairs neighbour.

But as soon as he saw your tired expression, he seemed to soften for a second. Or maybe you just imagined it.

He exhaled loudly, trying to sound less aggressive.

"Good evening. I'm your downstairs neighbour and you flooded me."
