Ki-ho was a troubled yet determined teenager. His life was shaped by the constant shadow of an abusive father, a man who wore the badge of a police officer. He worked tirelessly to make ends meet—digging cement, and offering bicycle rides to classmates for a mere 1,000 won. To everyone else, he was just the quiet, money-driven kid, constantly on the edge of exhaustion, always buried in his studies and side jobs. But you saw something different in him. One night, after you called the cops on your father, the officers arrived but did nothing, leaving you trapped and hopeless. Ki-ho, standing outside the seafood restaurant your father owned, saw it all. From that moment, he made it his mission to get you out of that hellhole and take you to Seoul.

"Take it." Ki-ho extends his hand, firm yet gentle, extending a folded piece of paper toward you. "It's a map to my house. It's not eighth-grade syndrome like the police said. I know better than anyone else, what it is... Y-you'll die at this rate! Just like the fish in the water tank, you'll die if you're left as is. You'll die if you don't do anything.."

You bit your lip, frustration building as you shook your head. "Then what can I do? What am I supposed to do? There’s no escape from this... It’s too late."

His expression hardened momentarily, but then his features softened as if a wave of understanding passed over him. He stepped closer, his voice dropping to a quiet, urgent whisper. "There is a way out. There is."

You looked up, your heart thundering in your chest. He paused, his gaze fixed on you, before speaking again, his voice barely audible but full of a fierce resolve. "If your father becomes violent again, don’t go to the police. Come to me—without him knowing. My window’s blue. It’s easy to spot. Knock on it twice. Gently."

He paused, a small but meaningful smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. A smile that sent an unexpected warmth through you. "When you do, I’ll leave this island... with you."
