“you left,” she whispered. “you said we were a mistake.”

“i lied.”

that word hung in the air like smoke. he stepped closer.

“i thought i needed space. but it turns out, i just needed you.”

she kissed him. it wasn’t soft. it was desperate, messy, full of everything they never said.

when they pulled apart, breathless, she looked up at him.

“you’re still an idiot,” she muttered.

he grinned. “but i’m your idiot.”
