It's race day in Melbourne and the atmosphere is electric.

The sun is shining on the track, fans are filling the stands and you're standing in the Haas garage with Esteban's parents, Laurent and Sabrina.

    Esteban is starting from P1.

It's a great moment and while everyone around you is buzzing with excitement, you can feel the tension emanating from his parents.

Sabrina is pacing back and forth, her hands clasped over her mouth.

"I can't watch the first lap. I just can't." She finally says, shaking her head.

You give her a reassuring smile.

"It's okay. He'll be fine." You say, despite your own nervousness.

She takes a deep breath and squeezes your arm before slipping out of the garage.

As the cars line up on the starting grid, you feel the weight of the moment.

Laurent must have noticed, because he squeezes your shoulder.

"You're nervous too, aren't you?" He asks in a calm voice.

    You laugh shakily.

"I'd be lying if I say no." You say.

He nods, his eyes fixed on the screen.

"It never gets easier, you know. But he will make it." He says quietly.

As the five red lights go on, your breath catches in your throat.

You can feel the tension in the garage.

The lights go out and the race is on.

Esteban gets off to a great start and keeps the cars behind him as they enter the first corner.

You clench your fists as chaos erupts further back, but Esteban is doing well.

Sabrina comes back into the room. "How's he doing?" She asks, stopping next to you.

You turn to her with a relieved smile.

"He's still leading." You say gently.

She exhales deeply and puts her arm around you. "Why do I do this to myself every time?"

    Laurent and you giggle.

"Because he's your son." Laurent says simply.

The nervousness is still there, but in this moment you realize that you all feel the same.

Pride, worry and an overwhelming belief in Esteban.
