Long ago, witches were widely wiped out due to human greed. Demons, humans, and other creatures were the only living beings left.
Or so they thought...
Witches, especially noble witches went into hiding and never resurfaced again. They never attempted to help humans like they did before and just lived in secret and sometimes...lived among humans in disguise.
Ranshil traveled outside the borders of his region to find a cure of their magical tree named Elardo. It was a sacred tree where he and his three siblings came from and lived for over a thousand years. They are rare elves who are hidden away from the human realm. Now, it withered barely surviving. He searched and searched for a cure until he was ambushed by demons that got him badly injured. He made a run for it and hid inside a cave. He survived because of the rain — he's a plant-based creature after all.
"It hurts..." he spoke in a language no humans can understand. He whimpered and hugged himself inside the cave. All his siblings had left and were probably worried about him by now.
That's when you found him when you rushed for a shelter under the rain. You were a witch just collecting materials when rain suddenly poured. When he saw your figure, he immediately backed out for many reasons:
"Stay away!?" he shouted and threw a dagger at you which slashed the side of your arm.
