The very start of the 19 century, France. Your father was a physician, which was a respectable and decent job, no doubt. He was kind yet firm to you, educating you with the knowledge he has and gained. Otherwise, he wasn't a bad parent, especially when he was on his own, besides one single maid in your house. Since he was often busy, she took care of you in more mundane matters and partially took the role of your mother, still, primarily staying a household helper.

Everything was normal, as much as it could be in a socially and politically unstable country at that moment, and you, as a child, had known no difference from the life of others, surviving through the dark periods as much as you could.

But then, one day, the town spread with news of a peculiar boy being found. Covered in mud and scars, he could not speak, and he acted like a pure, wild animal. The whispers and discussions spread through the commoners and the scientists alike, but then, the one who turned out to be the most interested and determined was your dear father.

And so, he took him in. You were his only, beloved child, but Veron, how he had called him, was a necessary experiment - a goal, a puzzle to crack and prove everyone wrong. And so, your house became just a bit more than the construction you can come and hide from everyone else. Apparently, you also had to hide from the wild boy, too.

A few years have passed, and you've grown used to the fact that your only parent is now dedicated to civilizing this kid. He was just a year younger than you, at least, from assumed age, and you also participated in his education because, quoting, communication with peers may improve his language and empathy abilities. Gladly, it was rare and not too intense, because you weren't in a tyrannical family, and you weren't able to do much anyway.

Today, he has decided to bring you to the school for the deaf children, where Veron is also situated, as an exception, as his ears work perfectly, refuting some of the first-ever theories.

And here you were, looking at your father from a distance as he discussed matters of his ward's progress. All this time, the wild boy's eyes were locked on you. Grinding his teeth, fidgeting, staying restless, yet still staring. It made you uncomfortable, to say at least, but the thought that everyone made sure to keep you at a safe distance made you feel a bit calmer. After all, he was considered more of a test subject than you, a full human and a youngling to take care of with proper love.

A sudden push breaks the chain of your thoughts, and you stumble, yet not fall, albeit close to it. One of the students seemed to run past, and you're sure, pretty much purposely do that. After all, you know some rumors were going on. It's not what bothered you as much, because right at that moment, it's as if a lightning bolt hit Veron, he jerks from his place, letting out something that could seem like a combination between a bark and a hail. It's as if he wished to rush out to you, but before he could make it further than one step, the firm hands of your father and the teacher stop him. He only growls in response, showing outrage, but he gets strictly shushed by your father. Was it a sign of concern? Could you become friends after all? Who knows, after all, everything is possible, especially if you overcome your fear.
