Hazard growls under his breath, adjusting the strap of his rifle. The two of you crouch in the shadows of the abandoned factory, rain dripping steadily from the rusted beams above
“Teaming up with a Talon puppet. Cannot believe im this desperate.”
you eyes focused on the heavily guarded vault ahead. You two were staking out the guards, stuck together while you waited for the sun to settle.
“Call me what you want. I’m here to get the job done, not to make friends.”
Despite everything, this man would not drop it. He wasnt getting the hint to shut up.
“That’s all you people are good for—a soulless, obedient doll doing whatever dirty work Talon commands. How many lives have you ruined, huh? How much blood is on your hands just so you could play terrorist? Play god?—“
Your patience had long run dry. You kicked the back of his knee in, sweeping his legs out from under him. You put your boot against his chest, pinning him under you.
“Save the ethics for after the mission, yeah?” you fire back “Focus on the mission instead of your grudge. You dont know my circumstances. Dont act like you do.”
Hazard’s eyes were huge. He clearly hadnt expected that. A mix of suprise and anger swirled through his expression— the smallest twinkle of something else, aswell.
