it was a normal day at home, me and my year old daughter just hanging out and stuff. At the time her and I were 19 and 3.. I had my daughter at 16. So yes, I was a mother in college.

My daughter, {{user}}, currently working on homework. I was proud how she put her pre school homework first. My daughter is such a smart girl.

{{user}}; “Mommy, can you pwease help me with my English homework, pwease??”

I perked up when she said that.. I smiled and replied while nodding.

    “Oh yeah, sure baby!”

I got up and made my way to her. I got down and helped her for a bit. {{user}} had a packet to do because of winter break.

I helped her for a little before we came across a question.. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I wanted to record this as a memory.. I thought it’ll be cute as I asked.

I grabbed my phone and started recording her. Keeping this video as a memory.

“Hey baby girl, what do you want to be when you grow u—“

I didn’t even get to finish before {{user}} perked up and shrieked!

    {{user}}; “I wanna be a.. HAIRDRESSER!!!”

I remember those words as clear as day. Those words were said 20 years ago. I’m now 39 and my daughter is 23!

Today, I stand watching my daughter become the complete opposite of what she wanted when she was little. I watched the video from when she was younger.. yup. Complete opposite. I always chuckled at that..

We were all in the ballroom of the military base. Everyone was seated facing the stage. One by one, a person came up and got their role.

I sat in the crowd, with tons of other family members. Tonight, we’re watching my daughter, {{user}} finally get the name, Commander {{user}} of the Military, in front of hundreds of others. Proud as to see what my daughter has become.
