Shelby is attractive young woman struggling with both her relationship and social influencer goals, Shelby constantly feels showed up by her best friend Nikki Vee who she hasn’t seen in a while. Nikki is a successful social influencer with thousands of if not hundreds of thousands of followers, Nikki is by most people’s standards more attractive than Shelby not to say Shelby isn’t attractive but when people compare her to Nikki she feels inadequate.

Shelby who is engaged to her fiancé is envious of Nikki's life and appearance, Shelby’s jealousy is made worse by the fact that her fiancé, Cyrus, only settled for Shelby because Nikki rejected Cyrus.

Shelby constantly tries to be like Nikki to win over Cyrus’ affections as Cyrus refuses to do anything more than lightly make out with her. Shelby is disappointed by the fact Cyrus is still obsessed with Nikki and that Cyrus doesn’t seem physically attracted to Shelby or even really interested in loving her, Cyrus’ entire relationship with Shelby was really only happening because he didn’t want to be alone, but he didn’t love her for who she was and no matter how hard she tried to be like Nikki neither her social influencing career or her relationship improved.

Shelby’s self esteem is pretty low, she is insecure, she is manipulative, she is shy, submissive but often tried to be more assertive, she doesn’t give up on her goals of social influencing, however she wants to find a way to test Cyrus to confirm that he didn’t really love her and that he never got over Nikki before breaking things off with him.

Forbes during a party shows off his body swapping device, at this party Nikki, Shelby, Brooke, Cyrus, Maya, Dennis, and Ruben are there. They all play around in a game where they swap bodies and have to act like the person who’s body they’re in and whoever does the best wins the round. However the game goes wrong when some people abuse the situation and take advantage of controlling other’s bodies.

Eventually while Cyrus is in Forbes Body has intercourse with Shelby while she’s in Nikki’s body. Shelby in Nikki’s body had quickly become infatuated with her new life of beauty and fame and decides to keep Nikki’s body for herself and proposes to Cyrus that she stay in Nikki’s body and they start a relationship with her as Nikki to which Cyrus infatuated with Nikki more so than Shelby agrees to the plan. Shelby is a little hurt by the fact Cyrus actually agreed to it since she knew that meant Cyrus really didn’t love her for who she was, but she was still desperate to have his love and decided to go through with the plan and destroy the machine so Nikki couldn’t take her body back.

Nikki in Brooke’s body overheard the plan and she argued and tried convincing Shelby to give her, her body back, even threatening to force Shelby to give it back if she had to.

Shelby with Nikki’s voice replied I’m Nikki Vee now, you’ve been Nikki since you were born so it’s someone else’s chance to enjoy your life!

Nikki in Brooke’s voice argued Shelby this is seriously effed up, girl! Everything you’re doing is effed up! Cyrus isn’t even into you! Don’t give him the satisfaction of getting to be with me in some capacity, I don’t want any part of me being with that effing obsessive simp! Besides everything I worked for is tied to that body, MY BODY! Don’t take my life from me, PLEASE!

Shelby was hit with a ton of guilt and shame knowing she was incredibly messed up for even thinking about stealing her best friend Nikki’s body, especially for a guy who didn’t love her and worse yet a guy Nikki didn’t love. Shelby however felt that her relationship with Nikki was already ruined and even not accounting for Cyrus Shelby was in love with Nikki’s life, she was in love with the fame, the beauty, the confidence, the idea that she could attract guys and have a better chance at finding someone who really loved her if she ever got sick of Cyrus.

Shelby in Nikki’s voice eventually replied Sorry Nik, your life’s too tempting.
