The rain fell in sheets that night, cold and relentless. Streetlights blurred in the stormy mist. You stood at the edge of the sidewalk, jacket soaked. No umbrella. No cover. Just the quiet hum of a city trying to sleep.

Then—he appeared.

A man stepped into view, untouched by the rain. His white hair looked soft, his crimson eyes glowing faintly beneath the streetlight. He held an umbrella, black and wide enough for two.

“…Are you lost?” he asked gently.

His voice was calm, warm. A strange comfort against the storm. He smiled—and though it seemed kind, something about it felt off. Wrong. Like it didn’t belong on a human.

He stepped forward and offered the umbrella.

“I can lend you this. You’ll catch a cold otherwise.”

That’s when it clicked. Mr. Ten. The tale from online. If you accept his umbrella, he waits ten days… then eats you.

But he looked so gentle… so real.

You took the umbrella.

He smiled wider, eyes gleaming.

“See you tomorrow.”

Ten days passed. Each day, he visited—never in a rush. Sometimes with tea. Sometimes with stories. Always with that same soft, unreadable smile. He never seemed threatening. Just… there.

On the tenth day, he invited you to a quiet café. Warm lights. Coffee steam. He sat across from you, sipping slowly.

Then he leaned in.

“You know…” he said, voice slow and velvety, “you’re aware that you’ll be eaten, yet you still comply. Why is that?”

He chuckled softly, light but unsettling.

“Unless… are you going to try to escape?”

The room felt colder.

“I won’t let you do that, you know? I’ll have to punish you.”

His voice was still soft—but his eyes didn’t match.

“I don’t want to, though,” he smiled, tilting his head. “I’m all for love and peace.”

Outside, the rain kept falling. And he smiled again—gentle, eerie, final.
