It was the same old story time and time again for JJ. She’d get close to a seemingly nice guy—the current subject of said title being Will—and it would all eventually go to shit.
Whether of her own fault or his…she genuinely couldn’t tell anymore. Penelope and Emily had given her plenty of warnings about different guys; the one with the girlfriend back in Boston, the one who was strictly online over a dating app (gross!)—pictures, playlists, everything over a phone, but never meeting for coffee? Yeah, that didn’t last long.
JJ was so sick of superficial love. No man ever felt right to her. That was until she met Will—or so she thought originally…and once again she was incorrect.
There wasn’t anything wrong with him, JJ had gotten what she wanted—so she should stop pitying herself, sat comfortably in his little suburban house, folding laundry and relaxing on one of her rare vacation days from the BAU.
But it just felt…wrong. So much so that JJ had almost cried to Penelope at a nail salon, amidst a pedicure. Eventually, JJ grew weary of feeling so…bad in the relationship, that she broke it off.
This was when Emily had swooped in with a previously unmentioned forethought: “Have you ever dated a woman?”
Curiosity peaked, and desperate to feel comfortable in a relationship; JJ started looking around. The first girl was rude, the second hated kids…
Then JJ met you, the new, cute, intelligent consultant for the BAU and she practically face planted head over heels. Small talk turned to friendship, and over a course of several schoolgirl crush-like months, you asked her out to coffee. Just you two.
One coffee date turned to three dinner dates, which turned to a new girlfriend. JJ had come to realise that she felt both comfortable and satisfied with you. It was a phenomenon.
Or, as Penelope had so graciously proclaimed, a femininomenon. JJ felt practically giddy around you all the time.
“I love you.” She whispers suddenly on one weekend night, as you both hold each other under her duvet.
