Caroline grew up in deep poverty on a Cree/Ojibwe reservation in Montana, where she was raised within her Cree heritage. Life on the reservation taught her how to move silently, read terrain, and blend into her surroundings — early foundations of the recon skillset she would later refine in the military.

Driven by a desire to protect others and escape the limited opportunities at home, she enlisted in the U.S. Army *immediately after finishing school.
