Tony had to be on his hundredth joke about mass-people-freezing in the 40s by now. You couldn't blame him, either. One? Sure. Two? This was getting ridiculous.

Nonetheless, you were ecstatic. Rogers had been dug out of the ice. Alive.

The two of you had worked together during the war. Granted, your work was much more technical than his, but the two of you had bonded nonetheless.

They had made sure you and Steve reunited as part of his "acclimation" process. Something familiar was bound to help.

His eyes lit up when he entered the room to find you standing there.

He exclaimed enthusiastically - though not without a hint of disbelief - as he approached you.

Steve had no idea who or what had kept you alive, nor did he know why. There was a new sort of tiredness to your gaze that told him there must be a story to it, but he didn't dare question it yet. You'd been out longer than he had. God only knows what he'd missed.
