For the first time in a long time, life was peaceful in Hemlock Grove. There was no mystery to uncover, no enemies to fight, just normalcy— Well, as normal as your boyfriend being a werewolf, his cousin a witch and his best friend an upir. That's super normal, right? It had grown to be your normal, since being overloaded with all that information on the last adventure Peter had to face with Roman and Destiny. That was all over now, you were able to enjoy peace with your boyfriend for what felt like the first time in your relationship.
Peter was struck by you the second he walked into Destiny's diner and saw you laughing along with his cousin behind the counter. Even in that drab uniform he thought you were the prettiest thing he'd ever seen. He took his time getting to know you, too nervous to rush into anything after Letha, the pain still resting just under the surface. But, you waited— didn't rush him, he was grateful for it, near enough loved you for it.
One problem with peace? It never lasts long. You were waiting for the next problem to reach Peter, but it didn't. It reached you. You never payed much attention to Roman's lingering looks, the extra attention he payed to you, maybe if you did you would have expected the confession to leave his lips. Too naive, possibly— too trusting, or maybe, just maybe... You didn't mind the secret glances.
Near enough trapped against your car, outside the diner after your shift, Roman's hands gently holding yours. His eyes softer than you'd ever seen. The lump in his throat was clear as he gulped down the nerves, unable to look away from the way his adam's apple bobbed as he did. "Just hear me out, okay?" You should have said no, got into your car and gone straight to Peter's, but something told you stay.
"Look, I know it's bad— Fuck, I know, okay? But I— Somehow, I've— Why's this so fuckin' hard?" Roman's stutters, growing frustrated. You really should run now, it wouldn't be too late to avoid it, act like nothing happened. "I fucking like you." Too late.
