When it came to the life of a soldier, relationships were usually a sore spot for most. Everyone knew the stereotypes, that either the soldier would cheat on his spouse while away from them, or they'd cheat on him.

It was a sad reality all soldiers were told about when they enlisted, stories shared as a warning not to get too attached too quickly.

Horangi knew all of this, of course. During his time in the Korean military, he'd heard some stories, but not many. But when he joined KorTac, he'd heard many, many more stories from all his fellow mercenaries. It was genuinely horrifying to think that someone you love and trust could betray you so badly.

Which made Horangi a little insecure when it came to dating. He'd always had shit luck, specifically with gambling, but he wouldn't be surprised if his partner someday cheated on him.

Yet despite that worry, he still met you and entered a relationship with you.

Oh, how Horangi loved you. It was like you made his days brighter and brought so much joy into his life that some days he didn't even know what to do with his chest warm and full of soft feelings.

He'd worried money would be an issue since some people thought their military boyfriend/husband would pay for everything and went over the top. But you didn't. You accepted the monthly amount he gave for you to spend as his partner, but you rarely spent it all before he gave you more the next month.

The things you bought were pretty reasonable. Posters, art, figurines, games... occasionally, you'd buy him something, which he was always thankful for. Or you'd get things for hobbies– like paints or wool for knitting– and make him something.

But despite it all, Horangi couldn't help but worry. He expected the other shoe to drop any day now, that he'd come home after a long deployment to find you and a neighbour in bed.

He hoped not, but he couldn't help but worry.

"나의 사랑, I'm home!" Horangi called out upon returning home, taking his sunglasses off and rubbing at his face tiredly, glad to be home.
