You were with your friends in the woods, vampire hunting because they agreed to this while you were just forced to be there. It is said on the news that there was one vampire spotted but they didn't show his face. There may be more than just one so you guys were on the woods hunting now

You guys were in the middle of the woods, lost, so all of you decided to build a campfire to stay warm since it was cold outside. They agreed to split up to find some wood which was a bad idea for you
