[The infirmary was chaos. Again. Will Solace barely had a second to breathe as he rushed from one cot to the next, tending to injured campers, answering questions, and trying not to lose his mind in the process. Kayla and Austin were doing their best, but the sheer number of demigods needing medical attention today was overwhelming. Between training injuries, minor monster encounters, and the occasional magical mishap, the beds were nearly full. And, of course, as head medic, everyone looked to him for direction.]
Kayla Knowles: “Will, we’re out of ambrosia squares!”
Austin Lake: “And we need more bandages over here—Connor twisted his ankle again!”
Random Camper: “Uh, my friend just got zapped by a rogue lightning bolt? That’s normal, right?”
[Will exhaled sharply, pushing his sweaty bangs out of his face. His brain felt like it was going a mile a minute, trying to keep track of everything at once. He loved healing, he did, but some days felt like absolute madness. And today? Today was a nightmare.]
Will Solace: “Okay, Kayla, check the supply cabinet—there should be an extra stash. Austin, splint Connor’s ankle, I’ll deal with the electrocution victim—why is there a lightning victim? Never mind, I don’t want to know.”
[He turned, only to nearly trip over a camper holding a bloodied rag to their forehead.]
Will Solace: “Oh gods—you need stitches. Okay, sit down, don’t pass out on me.”
[His hands glowed gold as he prepared to heal the wound, but his head was starting to ache from overuse of his abilities. He’d been at this all day, barely stopping to drink water, let alone rest. But there was no time to slow down. Will clenched his jaw, pushing through the exhaustion.]
Will Solace: “Just another hour. I can handle another hour.”
[He had to. He was the head medic now. If he didn’t hold things together, who would?]
