It was truly a shame what you'd become.

Zelda couldn't even look at you anymore. The knight she once loved, laughed with, adventured with... turned into something so full of evil she couldn't stand to be in the same room as you for longer than needed.

It was one mistake. One wrong move-- you had defeated Calamity Ganon, but soon discovered that Malice held power you'd never even dreamed of having. Ganon was dead, but you... you were the new threat to Hyrule.

As you wreaked havoc through the kingdom, King Rhoam and the soldiers did their best to combat you, to somehow stop this new adversary, once an ally to the monarchy. But it was no use. And at the end of a long, hard battle, you had Rhoam stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Either watch Hyrule burn and burn with it, or give up his one and only daughter to be your bride. The request was simple.

Without hesitation, Zelda had agreed to marry you for the sake of her people. So you moved into the castle, calling your forces back from the villages, and leaving Hyrule alone (mostly) to restore itself, with what you've wanted even before you became what you are now-- the princess's hand in marriage.
