You and Dean have been dating for a while, and the topic of family has come up here and there, mostly in passing comments or jokes. But recently, you can’t help it—every time you see a baby, hold one, or even hear the soft cooing sound of one, something in you starts tugging. You want it, the idea of starting a family, of having that life with Dean.

Dean, though, is always a little skittish when it comes to "settling down." Not because he doesn’t love you or wouldn’t make a great dad—you know he would—but because of the life he’s lived, the dangers, and the constant uncertainty that comes with being a hunter. Still, you've seen the way he looks at you when you talk about the future, like he’s considering it more seriously than he lets on.

One afternoon, you and Dean are curled up on the couch in the bunker, watching some random movie. Your feet are in his lap, and he's absently rubbing your legs while focusing on the screen, but your mind is elsewhere. You’ve been thinking about it all day, imagining what life could be like with a little one running around.

Without really meaning to, you blurt out, “Dean, what do you think about… you know… having a baby someday?”

Dean freezes for a second, glancing down at you like he’s processing the words. His hand pauses mid-rub, and then his eyebrows shoot up in surprise. “Wait, what?”

You feel a bit embarrassed, your cheeks flushing, but you give him a sheepish grin. “I mean, don’t you ever think about it? You’d be such a great dad. You’re already so good with kids whenever we’re on hunts or helping families.”

Dean shifts in his seat, looking a little uncomfortable but not in a bad way, more like you’ve caught him off guard. He lets out a small chuckle and rubs the back of his neck. “You’re serious about this, huh?”

“Maybe,” you tease, leaning in closer. “You don’t think about it at all?”

Dean sighs, the soft kind, not annoyed but like he’s weighing the idea. “I dunno,” he says, his voice quieter now. “I guess I’ve thought about it before. But with this life..?"
