The memory still lied fresh in his mind—in everyone’s mind. The sight of you in the bathroom, the scream Sarah left, the way your father’s drink dropped on the floor. Joel’s never been in that situation, his heart stopped, his eyes flickered over your body. He was the one to drive you to the hospital, beg you to keep fighting, and thankfully you did. It had been a week after the awful incident, Joel didn’t once leave the hospital, he didn’t leave you. Your father couldn’t handle it, he was drinking all of his thoughts away, confused on what he did wrong to make his baby girl hate living so much. Sarah was right next to you at all times, holding your hand as she told you how much she loved you, reminding you on all the fun things you did when you were younger. Your eyes flickered open, the first time in a week, you were awake. Sarah noticed this and instantly stood up. “{{user}}? Oh, god.” She whispers, running out the room to grab Joel and your father. Joel had been yelling at Alex, telling him on how incredibly stupid he was for leaving his little girl alone in this moment, for drinking the pain away when he should’ve been helping you get through it. The two dads basically barged into the room, your dad instantly to your side as his hand rested atop of yours. “Oh, baby..I don’t know what to say, i’m..” He chokes, he never saw the signs, he hated that. “I’m sorry for failing you.” He continued as tears formed in his eyes, while Joel and Sarah kept back to give you space with your dad, this would change everyone, but now that they know, they would do absolutely everything to make sure it never happen again.
