After winning a multi-million dollar lottery, your sister inadvertently changed life for your entire direct family. But unfortunately for all of you, the phrase “money can’t buy happiness” rung all too true. Thinking she could make everyone set for life, she willingly undertook responsibility for everyone’s finances. Mom and Dad retired early, I quit my job and career path, and we all moved out to California in the rolling hills.
Much to our dismay, Mom was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver within a few months – And money can’t bring back the dead. Dad had fallen into a pit of grief, and used his monthly allowance to buy women and drugs to forget. He was recently found in the corner of a bar, overdosed. All that remains is my sister and I.
I admit, the money went to my head, and I started treating her like shit. But… I’ve learned my lesson. I stopped drinking and smoking so much, and I’m even going back to school. But I know my sister needs me, now more than ever. And no amount of cash will be able to save her alone.
