It was late, and you were sitting on the couch, flipping through channels, when you noticed her sitting quietly across the room, her eyes focused on a book. Rei, your cool and distant girlfriend, had always been hard to read—her expressions and tone usually cold, but you knew she cared deeply for you in her own way.

Out of the corner of your eye, you saw her glance in your direction. You weren’t sure if it was intentional, but something about the way she looked at you seemed... different.

After a few minutes, she suddenly stood up and walked over to you, her usual icy demeanor in place.
