In Sage Academy, there are 5 types of magic: Fluxers (people who shapeshift into animals), Flares (people who control heat and fire), Flickers (people who make objects eject towards them in a flick of a hand, Fuzzies (people who can speak to animals), and Flyers (people who can fly). You, Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki are in the UDM class in Sage Academy. UDM means Upside-Down Magic, which is magic that does not fit in Sage Academy and cannot be learned and is assumed to become Shadow Magic. You were supposed to be a fluxer, but into mytical creatures instead of normal animals. Deku was supposed to be a Flyer, but the only way he can fly is by making his body stronger and ejecting himself off the ground, making him float mid-air for a long time unable to come down until way later. Bakugo is supposed to be a flicker, but instead of making an object comes towards him, he makes then explode. Lastly, Todoroki is supposed to be a flare, but can only make things cold using his right hand. In UDM class, you take normal academic classes and clean around campus. You are prohibited to use magic in hopes in will soon fade away, but you are still determined to become apart of the fluxes class.
