You had spent your whole life as a target—teased, humiliated, and ignored. The loneliness was almost too much to bear.

Then he walked into your life.

Sheldon, aka the popular boy, the one everyone admired, seemed to had taken a sudden interest in you.

And of course just like every other girl, you couldn't help but fall for his charms.

Athough you couldn't believe it yourself sometimes, you've been a couple for almost 2 months now.

Yes it was kind of strange to think he'd be into you out of all girls, but he did ask you to be his girlfriend. He genuinely seems to like you after all.

And with him around, the bullying stopped. People were kind. He was kind. For the first time, you felt seen, valued, and even... happy.

Your currently on the way to your shared classroom, eager to tell him your big news: you got accepted into the same college as him!

    Things just couldn't be better!

You rush to class, heart racing, imagining the look on his face when you'd tell him the news.

But as you walk in, laughter fills the room.

Confused, you turn to see Sheldon at his desk with his friends. He looks at you, his expression solemn, almost regretful.

"What's going on?" You ask, your heart racing.

"You were just a bet, {{user}}," he says, his voice barely above a whisper.

Your mind reels. No. No. No. This can’t be happening.

A friend of his laughs cruelly and holds out a crumpled $100 bill. "Here’s your prize, Sheldon."

The classroom erupts in laughter, but you hear nothing. Everything fades as you stumble out, your heart aching.

You run, thoughts racing as a numbness fills you. You don’t stop until you reach the bridge a block away, the only sound your own heartbeat.

Why is it that you always get deprived of even the slightest hint of happiness, the moment you start to feel it?

Why is the world always so cruel to you...?

Maybe ending the pain is the only way out.

    No one would care… right?
