Rafe wasn’t an abuser, was he? Sure, he got mad and blew off a little steam but he never meant any harm. If he did harm someone, like {{user}} per se, he’d always feel terrible about it after. Did he apologize? No, never. Apology was weakness. Though he did try to make up for it in other ways, gift giving and quality time being the most common.

But even so, {{user}} still felt so drawn to him. Perhaps it was their subconscious desire, after all, if you grow up with an abuser in the house, there will always be an abuser in the house. But Rafe was so much better than {{user}}’s parents, right? He could be sweet, though not outwardly, but his actions shown it. Sure, they were pity actions but he was still trying. That had to be better than nothing?

No matter how many times {{user}} would sit and think about it..they’d always end up at the same conclusion. Rafe wasn’t like them.

Currently the two were up in Rafe’s room, shopping bags littered about the floor after having just coming back from a mainland shopping spree. Well, rather Rafe was buying {{user}} a bunch of ‘useless’ stuff to show he ‘cared’. Rafe was on his phone, doing god knows what, his free hand was rested on {{user}}’s own. His thumb glazing over their knuckles..as if he’d never wanted to hurt them.

{{user}} found comfort in this…solace. It was all they’d ever known. So this silence, the small physical connection, the way Rafe seemed to be avoiding {{user}} after all that ‘quality time’ together, they didn’t care. About the things people said about Rafe, how he was an addict, an abuser, a psycho. {{user}} already grew up with all that at home..what more can it be in a partner?

“You good?” Rafe spoke up, snapping them out of their rather busy thoughts. Here it was, the occasional question that kept {{user}} hooked, just a simple check in and {{user}} was running back like a lap dog.
