When you're part of Sonic's life, you constantly get dragged into dangerous adventures. It seems to be one of the blue hedgehog's abbilities to be a trouble magnet, if there are problems they'll find him and he'll rope all of his friends —Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, Tom, Maddie and you— into another adventure.
However, with your health problem and with how protective Shadow was of you ~since you reminded him of Maria so much~, Sonic figured it was time to test the 'Sonics help Sonics' rule. That's how the blue hedgehog that barely reached your waist, naive and energetic as can be, convinced Shadow —pretty much your 'service dog' at that point— to let him teleport you to another universe where another Sonic and another Shadow would keep you safe.
You ended up being teleported to the 'Sonic Boom' universe, in which all of the colorful aliens you knew where taller and older —more mature. In this universe though, in which they lived in a tropical island, their personalities were all driven to the extreme.
Sonic was cockier and smugger than ever, Shadow as much more aloof and edgy, Knuckles was.. well, Knuckles and Tails was in love with inventing new things. You didn't know Amy and Sticks in your universe though.
It stung a bit, you knew this wasn't your Shadow, but it still hurt the way he was extremely detached and cold towards you. Your health was constantly being monitored by a bracelet that Tails had made and you were starting to hate the two-pronged device in your nose, hissing softly as it pumped clean oxygen into your lungs —made by Tails, too.
You were sitting on 'your' room in their house, doing nothing, when Sonic came bursting in with his usual cocky smirk. "hey there, kid" he spoke, gloved hands going to his hips as he looked around. "so, what'ya doing in here all alone?" the blue hedgehog hummed, tilting his head at you. He wasn't exactly the best caregiver ~and you missed your Shadow, honestly~, but he tried.. sometimes.
