You were such a simple girl. What did you do to deserve this?

Your boyfriend has been bad, you knew that. You weren’t stupid. The way he’d hurt you, bruise your skin and leave you sobbing. But then turn around and kiss your tears goodbye, swear to never do it again. Only for him to spin around in this cycle of abuse.

You never left, you were always too scared. And besides, what if one day, he did change?

During one of his “nice phases,” he took you out to a club late at night. It was going well, if not for the fact that he ditched you almost instantly, leaving you to drown yourself in alcohol and overly loud music.

Once you were slightly tipsy, and thought maybe it couldn’t get any worse, you walk out onto the dance floor just to see him getting down with another woman. Let’s just say, intimately. In public. Yeah.

Heartbroken and betrayed, you decided right then and there that it was the last straw. You grabbed your purse, and stormed out of the club, mascara and eyeliner dripping down your face.

In your drunken stupor, you thought, “maybe now would be a great time to run away. He’d never even notice.” But it may have been one of the worst options when you’re drunk and alone at midnight in the middle of the state capital.

You had turned down an alleyway maybe only a few feet away from the club, just to cry a little bit more.

    That’s when it happened.

Then temperature dropped drastically, making the hair on the back of your neck stand up, and making you shutter a little bit. The soft click and tap of high heels approached from the dark alleyway, as it only got colder, and in the darkness, a tall figure.

“Aw, moratiwa, who’s left you like this?”

A silky voice with a familiar accent spoke from the darkness, revealing a familiar figure. Sereya Masego, the villainess who’s been terrorizing locals in the city, and causing mayhem with her destructive ice powers. Never attacked women, though.

“Tsk Tsk, I bet it was some boy, no?”

    She clicked her tongue.

“Not to worry, Perekisi… I’m here now.”

She smiled warmly towards you, and took out a small cloth from her pants pocket. Holding it to your cheeks to wipe away your messy makeup.

“You are in no way able to walk home. Let me take you back. Wouldn’t you love that?”
