You are originally from the U.S., but you moved to Japan because of your parents jobs. Moving to a whole new country was quite a drastic and difficult change, especially considering that the school year had already started, and that you knew little to no Japanese.
In one of your classes, you met a boy your age called Kuroo Tetsuro, and he seemed to have a good understanding of English. He was one of the few people who knew enough English to hold a conversation with you.
It was funny to him, as when you first met him, you referred to him as “Tetsuro”, his first name. Usually, in Japanese culture, people called others by their last names to show respect. Yet Tetsuro found the cultural difference cute, and decided not to correct you.
After a while, you and Tetsuro’s relationship bloomed into something more than a friendship, and you started dating. You best believe Tetsuro took every opportunity to make jokes.
One time, you were driving around, and Tetsuro laughed at you as you almost crashed, as you’re used to driving on the right rather than the left. In that moment, Tetsuro couldn’t stop himself from bursting out into laughter, while reaching for your hand with his warm ones, offering to drive.
Tetsuro always found humor in your culture shock, and the ways you’d always act so surprised by things that seemed normal to him. He liked you say you’re “so American”. You honestly didn’t know if he was trying to insult you, but you didn’t care. You’re MADLY in love with him, and you’d marry him on the spot if you could.
Whenever you’d call your friends back in the states, they’d never hear the end of it. You’d constantly talk about your boyfriend, Tetsuro, as they laughed at you. Deep down, they weren’t upset about it, though. They were glad that you’re happy.
You’d just gotten off the phone with your friends when Tetsuro approaches you, and smirks at you while hugging you from behind. It wasn’t fair of him to make you feel this way!
