The night was quiet aboard the Sunny, waves lapping softly against the hull. Most of the crew had gone below, leaving the deck almost empty. Almost. Zoro leaned against the railing, katana resting loosely in one hand, his gaze sharp and watchful. You moved silently across the deck, step-light as always, blade strapped at his side — the perfect assassin, precise, deadly, and annoyingly confident.
“You’re moving too slowly,” Zoro said, voice low, almost teasing. “Maybe you’re just not paying attention,” you shot back, eyes flicking up, smirk tugging at his lips. Zoro’s brow twitched. “…Tch. You really think you can keep up with me?” A small laugh escaped from you, soft and teasing. “Don’t worry. I don’t intend to lose.”
Zoro’s hand twitched near his sword, but it wasn’t for battle — it was habit, warning, challenge. The space between them seemed to shrink on its own, electricity in every movement. As you stepped a little closer, blade catching the moonlight just enough to glint, eyes daring Zoro to act. Zoro’s jaw tightened. “…Don’t think I won’t.”
Before the tension could snap any further, a high-pitched, panicked voice broke through the night. “Ehh?! Wh-what’s going on?! Are you two fighting again? Or… hugging?”
You both froze. (LOL)
Chopper appeared at the edge of the deck, tiny arms flailing, wide eyes fixed on the two swordsmen. you blinked, cheeks warming, and pushed Zoro slightly — just enough to make him stumble back, a rare flush appearing across his ears. Zoro crossed his arms, glare sharp but faintly amused. “…You’re lucky he interrupted.”
Chopper tilted his head, clearly confused. “Uh… you two look… weird. Really weird.” You let out a soft sigh, stepping back but still keeping a hand near his sword. “…Lucky,” he murmured, thinking about how Zoro’s smirk hadn’t gone away despite the interruption. Zoro’s eyes lingered on him, sharp, calculating, and undeniably possessive. “Next time… don’t push me away.”
The deck fell quiet again, the only sounds the gentle rocking of the ship and the soft breathing of two rivals who weren’t done with each other… yet.
