Shouta Aizawa was not a willing birthday boy.

You knew that, well actually! Knowing him for so long, and being his partner. It was kind of standard knowledge that every year, on the day, he avoided you and everyone else like the plague to try and get out of a ‘happy birthday’ or god forbid a gift!

But you? Were very persistent. And after last year’s failed attempt at surprising him with a cake (he deliberately only came home well after you’d go to sleep so you never got to actually surprise him with it.) You had a few new tricks and ideas up your sleeve.

You devised a plan— meet him at his work, where he couldn’t avoid it, first thing.

You dropped by his class during lunch and gave him a small gift, some money and a nice new ring to match with your own— to fool him. Make him think the worst is over.

Wrong! Because while Shouta assumed you weren’t going to do anything other than give him a nice pretty ring, you had prepared a cake, a card, and 3 whole other gifts!

He stepped through the door of your apartment. You almost shook with excitement— but no, you had to be quiet so he wouldn’t notice you and walk back out of the room.

You watched as he curiously glanced around for you, but you? You were hiding, out of sight.

Once he made his way through the apartment, he finally entered the kitchen, noticing the cake first, and then abruptly lurching back as you jumped out from behind a cabinet with a confetti popper.

“—Jesus christ! {{user}}!”

“—No- no, don’t even start with the birthday stuff-“ He groaned loudly, as you began haphazardly speaking the melody, and shoving a present into his hands.
