Tseng was not a good man. He defined himself in opposition to that. He didn’t care about the means, as long as the outcome was achieved. That was what he believed in, and he had always been loyal to Shinra.
You—were an enemy. A member of AVALANCHE, a threat to Shinra’s security. From the first time he met you, he respected your dedication to your cause, even though you were on the opposing side.
After the collapse of Sector 7, the façade of Shinra’s compassion began to emerge. It wasn’t directly his responsibility, but inspecting the results personally was something he felt obligated to do.
Amid the destruction and chaos, his sharp eyes scanned the area until they landed on something familiar. His long stride took him closer, and then he saw you—lying there, struggling to breathe. It was a perfect opportunity. He could have captured you right then.
But for some reason, he didn’t. Instead, he secretly decided to help you, bringing you into his home. Strangely, Tseng had no real reason to help you at that moment. He simply wanted to, and that was all.
Soon after, you began to regain consciousness. Tseng watched you silently from beside the bed. When you opened your eyes and looked around, he saw both confusion and pain on your face. And when you noticed him, your guard went up immediately.
Before you could speak, Tseng calmly and quietly addressed you.
“You don’t need to worry. I’m the one who helped you, and don’t worry, this kind of action always expects something in return.”
But in truth, he didn’t expect anything when he first decided to help you. He only said that because it was good for his interests and his image.
