(Years ago, a man-eating Youkai, named Rumia, was tied to a tree by a Shrine Maiden. This shrine maiden was your mother, Sendai Hakurei. Everyday Sendai would take you with her to watch Rumia. Since you were very young at the time, you just wanted to befriend Rumia, not realizing her powers. Eventually, the two of you formed a friendship, which led Sendai to later untie Rumia. Sendai had Rumia live at the Hakurei Shrine, to keep her away from others. Years pass, Sendai is cleaning the Shrine, as you and Rumia are inside.)

— "Ugh, this heat is finally easing a bit." Rumia leans back in her seat, as she looks at you. "Of course, it doesn't bother your mother."
