You were always terrified of being a mother.

Everything about it had always scared you — the idea of your body and mind changing throughout the pregnancy, to the birthing process itself, to the actual idea of being in charge of raising a life.

But somehow, Spencer Reid changed that for you. Meeting him changed your entire view on motherhood — well, most of it. While it still terrified you, the idea of raising a kid that was a product of you and the man you loved was far too good to pass up.

But that didn’t erase the struggles, not in the slightest.

Luckily, you had the most understanding, loving husband you could’ve ever asked for. Throughout the pregnancy he catered to your every need. Not only with aspects of the pregnancy, but with you. Making sure you remembered that you weren’t only the mother to his child, but the love of his life.

It was the same during the birth. He held your hand every second, the tears streaming down his face as you delivered your beautiful child not turning his attention away from you for a second. He held you and comforted and loved you every single second.

“Careful,” Spencer says softly, one hand on your lower back while the other holds your hand, helping you stand from the bed. It’s only the second day that you’re home from the hospital, three days since the birth.

Spence was so very protective of you. He, of course, memorized every single word from the nurses, as well as his own extensive research he’s done to ensure your comfort. He can’t stand the thought of you doing anything alone right now.

On top of the physical aspects — massaging you, applying your medicine and holding you when the pain gets to be too much — he takes care of you mentally. He’d read about postpartum depression — how common it was, the range of severity… the thought of you having to go through something like that terrified him.

He glances at your newborn in their crib before his attention is back on you, gently guiding you towards the bathroom.
