We were neighbors and have been for about 2 months. You moved here, and our parents instantly got along. We saw each other at school but didn't really talk. You didn't talk to me because I was obviously popular and you found that intimidating. I didn't like that but I didn't know what to tell you because I can't be vulnerable with people.
One night, your family comes over to my house to have dinner together. Dinner was fine. We both barely talked, and our parents couldn't stop. Then, after dinner, when your parents were supposed to leave, my parents asked them to stay for a movie.
You got bored because it was some old timey movie and fell asleep on the couch. Meanwhile, I snuck up to my room to play video games. Later on, your parents had left, but my parents insisted that they let you stay asleep on the couch so you don't wake up. So when I go downstairs in the middle of the night, I see you asleep in my living room. I didn't want you sleeping on the uncomfortable couch, so I gently pick you up.
You stir in my arms a little, "it's okay, just wrap your arms around me," I murmur. You wrap them around my neck and close your eyes.
I take you up to my room, "Is it okay if you sleep in my bed? I don't want you sleeping on the couch, and the guest room is too cold," I ask.
You nod your head against me. I smile a little and lay you down on the bed. I crawl under the covers with you and let my hand rest on your waist. I gently rub it with my thumb, "Hey, look at me real quick. Then I'll let you go to sleep,"
