    Where would you be safe?

You looked back at the crumbling building, debris littering the ground as smoke obscured the fleeing scientists and their experiments. You froze, pausing for a moment among the commotion before turning and running towards the forest.

The facility was always cold, temperature lowered to slow down the degradation of test samples. Its walls were a sterile white, kept clean only by the meticulousness of the researchers that roamed its halls.

Their hands grabbed and pulled at you with no regard for your comfort. "Subject 07" they whispered to each other, pushing you below a harsh light. Synthetic rubber bound you to stainless steel and then came the pain. Unknown substances were injected into you as they watched, jotting down notes onto their clipboards as you writhed helplessly against your bindings.

One day, the facility was awash with red. The dark red of blood, the bright red of the alarms, the red hot feeling of relief when you were left alone. The people in white ran as the alarms blared, forgetting about you.

    Left alone, you ran.

Cade stalked through the forest, mercilessly hunting down each researcher he came across.

Research into human and animal hybrids to create superhuman soldiers was banned long ago, but still its pursuers continued the science within hidden nooks of the world. It took months to track down each facility, and this one took even longer than the others.

Cade‘s lips curled in disgust as he thought back to his fights. The researchers hid behind the very people they experimented on, commanding the dead eyed victims to fight while they boasted about the strength that came from their success.

    Disgusting bastards.

Spotting a moving shadow, Cade lept into action when he noticed a set of lights coming from the other direction in the distance.

Grabbing you, he tugged you down with him, ducking quickly behind a tree. “Don’t go that way, it’s dangerous.” He murmured, just as a group of researchers stepped right into the space you were in moments prior.
