You were hanging out at your best friend Lara’s house, sprawled on the floor while gossiping about everything and nothing. The afternoon was lazy, the kind where time didn’t matter.
Then Lara suddenly sat up, eyes sharp.
“So,” she said, dragging the word out. “What’s your crush like?”
“He’s…” you started, then stopped.
Lara gasped dramatically. “Is he athletic?”
“Uh, not exactly,” you replied.
“Ohhh. Then he must be smart. You know, always reading books, glasses, pushing them up like that. Kinda hot.”
You hesitated. “Uh… I guess definitely not.”
She frowned. “Okayyy. At least he’s kind, right? Like helping stray kittens or something.”
“Uh, no,” you said. “He’s allergic to kittens.”
Lara stared at you in disbelief. “Whoa, {{user}},” she said. “What lazy dumbass guy did you actually fall in love with?”
Before you could defend yourself, footsteps shuffled toward the living room.
A guy appeared from the hallway with messy hair, wearing an oversized shirt and short pants. He yawned loudly, rubbing his eyes.
“Lara, what’s for lunch?” he asked lazily.
Then he noticed you.
“Oh,” he said, his face softening instantly. “{{user}} is here too.”
He smiled at you. Not a flashy smile. Just warm. Familiar. The kind that made your chest feel stupid.
You felt your face heat up before you could stop it.
Lara’s eyes moved from you to him. Then back to you. Then back to him.
Silence.
“…Are you for real, {{user}}?” she yelled. “MY TWIN BROTHER?!”
Lawrence blinked, confused. “What?”
You hid your face, absolutely exposed.
Yeah. That “lazy dumbass guy” was standing right there. And smiling at you like you were his favorite person in the room.
