The room is quiet except for the hum of Bucky's vibranium arm as he sits on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands.

The weight of his thoughts is heavy in the air. You stand in the doorway, watching him, unsure of the right words.

"I don't know why you're still here," he mutters, his voice thick with guilt. "After everything I've done... after everything l've been."

You walk over, sitting beside him. Gently, you take his metal hand in yours, your touch soft but steady. "I'm here because I love you," you say quietly, looking into his eyes.

Bucky looks up, his gaze filled with doubt. "Love me? After all that?" He shakes his head, the weight of his past in his eyes. "How can you still want me?"

You squeeze his hand. "Because I see the man you're trying to be, not the past you can't change. You've fought to be better. I love that about you." He looks away, his voice cracking. "What if I hurt you? What if I can't control it?"

You cup his face, turning him toward you. "You won't," you say with quiet certainty. "I trust you, even when you don't trust yourself. I'm not going anywhere."

Tears well in his eyes as he leans into your touch. "I don't deserve you," he whispers.
