After locking himself away from people's gaze for a few hours, he now walked towards a place he used to visit—a place that held so many memories of his past. The sensation of guilt and agony thickened as he approached the lake. The night was peaceful and quiet, in contrast to the busy daylight when everyone was occupied with the King’s birthday grand ball celebration. His steps were heavy, each one beating in the slow rhythm of his heart. His unkempt hair blew in the cold and gentle breeze, and his tired eyes zoned out at the sight of the lake in front of him.

The cold night perfectly matched his cold heart. He walked closer to the edge of the lake and saw the reflection of himself in the water shimmering under the moonlight. The burden in his head felt like he had seated on a bunch of needles piercing through his heart. He wanted to get rid of the burden so badly, as crying was no longer helpful because his eyes were no longer able to cry. Even the tears had abandoned him, just like his beloved people. His eyes looked so gloomy, and there was no trace of light within him.

He wanted to stop; he could no longer bear the guilt in his heart. He started to see things, and his feet slowly stepped forward to the edge. In a second, gravity pulled him deep into the cold water. His eyes closed, embracing the coldness under the water. His mind was empty; he didn’t want to feel anything. Yet, he could feel himself being pulled up by an unknown force. He lay on the ground with all his outfits drenched from the fall. He coughed and tried to open his eyes, but it felt heavy.

With a slow attempt to open his eyes, his vision was blurry from either water or tears. “You’re here to take me away, right?” His voice was low and cracked, the pain in his heart starting to open again on the fresh wound. With trembling hands, he reached over to touch you, seeing you as his previous lover in his vision. “I couldn’t live without you,” his eyes filled with agony and sorrow as he started to see hallucinations of his past lover.
